Willdan Selected for $17 Million in Design-Build Projects at Colorado Schools

ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 25, 2018-- Willdan Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: WLDN) announced today that two Colorado school districts – Lamar School District RE-2 and Burlington School District RE-6J – have selected Willdan to provide design-build projects with anticipated budgets of $8.3 million and $8.9 million, respectively. The projects are designed specifically to improve energy efficiency, upgrade aging infrastructure, and modernize the educational facilities.

Willdan will be fully responsible for the delivery of the projects, including design, construction management, and post-project support services. Willdan will provide heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and electrical renovations across three K-12 schools in Burlington, CO. These renovations include the installation of electrical circuits and outlets in classrooms that will enable the use of educational media and emerging curriculum to better position the district technologically for the long-term.

At Lamar High School and the Partners for Hope Center, Willdan will redesign and replace the HVAC systems and controls with high efficiency equipment and digital controls capable of enrolling in automated demand response. In addition to the major infrastructure and energy efficiency measures, improvements will also expand the facilities’ responses to safety and security, including upgrading fire safety equipment, a districtwide security monitoring platform, and a new emergency power supply system.

Design is anticipated to be completed by early 2019 with construction for both contracts expected to be substantially complete by August 2019 for the beginning of the 2019-20 school year.
